Album Info
Ahazeej is a seven-song album and performance project arranged for a 10-person Middle Eastern and Jazz ensemble based on my research into Kuwaiti musical traditions. The album engages the rich rhythms and beautiful melodies of the Arabian Gulf and reimagines and transplants them to a global jazz context. Ahazeej also samples original field recordings from Kuwait.
Ahazeej was funded in part by grants from AFAC The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture and Mophradat for the Arts.
